Terms of agreement

  1. A booking of the Wellington Cathedral of St Paul shall be confirmed by the Cathedral Manager by email. Requesting a booking online does not guarantee that the enquiry will be accepted. If your booking is time sensitive please email richard@wellingtoncathedral.org.nz.

  2. The Hirer will be invoiced in full for the hire charge by the end of the calendar month in which the booking takes place.

  3. The Hirer does not have the right to sub-let facilities arranged for under this agreement.

  4. The Hirer will leave the venue in the same condition in which it is found, and the Hirer will be invoiced for any additional cleaning that is required if it is not left in an acceptable condition.

  5. There may be cause to cancel a booking should an event of national/international importance arise for which the Cathedral is required. In this instance, the Cathedral will work with the Hirer to reschedule the booking.

  6. If the venue hirer cancels the booking within 48 hours of the scheduled start time the Hirer will be invoiced in full for the cost of hire.

  7. In the event of a cancellation by either party the Cathedral will not be held responsible for any loss of income the Hirer may have incurred.

  8. Unless otherwise agreed the Hirer is responsible for setting up chairs, tables and other equipment as required.

  9. The delivery, receipt and custody of user’s equipment is the responsibility of the user, and the Cathedral accepts no responsibility for loss or damage to such equipment and property.

  10. The Hirer shall remove all chattels, goods, effects and equipment belonging to the Hirer from the Cathedral precinct by the conclusion of the usage period or at a time agreed with the Cathedral Manager.

  11. The floors, walls or any other parts of the Cathedral precinct shall not be broken or pierced by nails, screws or any other contrivances, nor any adhesive tapes or other adhesive substances shall be used on the walls of the buildings.

  12. The Cathedral’s Health and Safety policy and Hazard and Risk Management Registers can be found online at https://www.wellingtoncathedral.org.nz/health-and-safety. These guidelines are to be observed at all times by the hirer.

  13. All Health and Safety matters which arise during an event must be reported to the Cathedral Manager as soon as practicable, and the Hirer must comply with all reasonable instructions given by a Cathedral staff member.

  14. Should an incident or near miss occur during the event it must be reported directly to the Cathedral Manager who will complete an incident report. This report will be submitted to the Cathedral Vestry and Diocesan Office who will review the incident and determine whether it is a notifiable event. All documentation will be made available to the Hirer if requested.

  15. The Hirer does not have the right to park any cars in the Loaves and Fishes carpark between the hours of 7am - 7pm Monday-Friday and between 6am – 1pm on Saturday. Limited pay and display parking is available in the cathedral carparks between 7am-7pm Monday-Friday. The Loaves and Fishes carpark is available for use outside of these hours. The carparks are managed by Wilson Parking, and parking tickets may be issued to illegally parked vehicles. The Hirer may not block any thoroughfares or access ways with vehicles. All offloading vehicles must be moved to a valid parking space or off site once the offloading of equipment is complete.

  16. Smoking is prohibited in all areas.

  17. The Hirer agrees to take full responsibility for ensuring compliance with government regulations, and agrees that the Cathedral is not liable for any breach of these regulations.
